Rhinoplasty is a surgery to reshape a nose

Plastic surgery includes both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. While Cosmetic plastic surgery is performed to reshape normal body parts in order to improve the patient's appearance and self-esteem, Reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal body parts in order to improve their functions, and possibly rectify abnormal appearance. Rhinoplasty is a surgery to reshape a nose, whether it is a nose reduction, nose augmentation (enlargement), or simply reshaping the nose to correct a birth defect.

For a nose reduction surgery, the skin of the nose is separated from its supporting framework of bone and cartilage, which is then sculpted to the desired shape. The nature of the sculpting depends upon your problem. Finally, the skin is redraped over the new framework. The operation is made inside the nostrils, hence no scars will be seen after the surgery. After the surgery, there might be some swelling which should subside within one week.
